The 做厙AV will welcome Dr. Jalkennen Joseph, MD, author and physician, as the featured speaker for the 43rd Presidential Lecture Series on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. in the MultiPurpose Room at the Dr. Lucio C. Tan Student Success Center.
The public lecture also marks the Guam release of Dr. Josephs memoir, Becoming an American Doctor, which chronicles his journey from growing up in Pohnpei, Micronesia, to serving in the United States Air Force and ultimately becoming a physician.
Born and raised in Pohnpei, Dr. Joseph is a proud graduate of Simon Sanchez High School, Class of 1999. After completing ten years of military service in the U.S. Air Force, he pursued higher education and earned his medical degree from the University of Hawai妡i John A. Burns School of Medicinebecoming only the second individual from Pohnpei to graduate from a U.S. medical school.
During his presentation, Dr. Joseph will share personal reflections on resilience, service, identity, and access to opportunity, with a special focus on inspiring Micronesian students who aspire to careers in healthcare and medicine. The event will include an interactive questionandanswer session.

This lecture is about showing students that their background does not limit their future, said Joseph. My hope is that sharing my story helps young people believe that their dreamsespecially in medicine and serviceare possible.
